The Sun is smiling on… A boy, Sitting on the swing put together

with my bare hands…As he plays

In the shade of, The canopy kissed by flowers

Above… A giant magnolia tree hugging

this land since way before I was born

I wonder how many others got covered in petals

sitting in this very spot?

I hear water bubbling away, Oh it's the game on his tablet

I close my eyes and travel far far away! Back to when things were calm. I run up to the stream in our garden,

to check out the blue tiles at the bottom

The ones from the bathroom dad picked out for me and my sister

I remember feeling them under my feet as we played

with the kids from our neighbourhood

On a hot summer's day!

Can I still bend down and splash my face? Or is my back too damaged from wanting to help?

The water shortage, The grass kept green from this very water

Dad looks tired. I feel the weight of the bucket

as I lift it and …hear a snap,

My back’s starting to ache! I open my eyes,

Have I been sitting here too long?

I must wash the car, It would be nice to do it together

I get up in search of money he'll expect
