Nov 2018 Families/friends
It takes a village to raise a child
If that’s the case it’s putting it mild
Our little one was made in the City
I kept it schtum I didn’t need the pity
With a start like that I should have known
Thank god I wasn’t on my own
We signed up to a parenting group
We often shared a bowl of soup
Or cup of tea before he came
N some of us did play the game
We figured one another out
And one or two of us fell out
But then there were the simple few
Who often called us for a brew
And then the bundles all arrived
Through labour all the mums Survived
Tis true some had had it worst than others
Yet one by one we became mothers
Now what I learned to my surprise
Through all of the downs and all the highs
My family did but let me down
They acted like a horrid clown
My sisters’ dog came before my kid
I wish I’d had a tighter lid
With favouritism on every side
No wonder there’s a big divide
Thank goodness for the NCT
It’s time for another cup of tea.
