Values

They are not something we are encouraged to think about or explore. We get hijacked before we know it, trying to be successful.

From the age of 7, told education matters

go through school, trying to be an all rounder not because we want to learn every subject, but because if we don’t people will label us slow or a failure. We do it to please our carers or teachers who have power over us.

Is education important to us or is it love that drove us to education?

Not our love for learning but fear of that look of disappointment in our parents eye.

How old were you when you stood up for what you believed in? Said no I don’t want to?

Success is only fully felt, when you achieve something YOU needed to do, and not for the sake of pleasing others. I was brought up to think: to be successful; I must be labelled as either a Doctor or an Engineer.

Are we letting labels drive our values? Is it really worth getting in to debt for that next I phone? Are we taking on a lifetime of debt so we can be labelled successful by society owning a mansion? or is that what we need to do?

You can Google values and you will see a list of 100. It may even confuse you. Some companies will define their ethos by them but how many are there to make us human?
