What is success?
Thought it was leaving my homeland having overcome the challenges in my way,
I thought it was passing my A levels despite my tutors predictions.
Thought it was being able to choose what I wore
Thought it was fitting in
I thought I’d feel it holding my first pay cheque
I thought it was getting through the 4 years before I went to University but having reached there, that wasn't it.
I met some like-minded people there, which helped.
I studied hard, played hard and graduated but that still wasn’t it.
I thought it was meeting the one and tying the knot, well that helped.
But I learnt more about success being a mum because it challenged me in every way.
Being a mum made me face my shadows, accepting of my flaws, combatting them because I had to find a way to give no matter how I felt!
It made me question my values. Even be more accepting of others.
Watching a child grow, teaches you a great deal. It helps finding your true self. you learn more about self compassion, as you can’t give from a half empty cup
I feel fulfilment and happier than I have ever been, all because I grew watching the one I brought in to the world!
My one and only true teacher! My son
Lessons Learnt: I believe success is a Journey, a never ending one.
I came to the conclusion that I had taken on others beliefs. I did things to please others. If only I had stopped and asked "what is it I want?" What do I enjoy doing? What have I always been passionate about? What changed my mind? How could I safeguard against that incident?
Why do I now want/or don' t want and why? Not Ran from my shadows.
I believe shadows (obstacles) must be faced, as they stand in the way of us feeling successful.
Something else to consider
